Environmental Policy – J & J Stern LLP

J & J Stern LLP’s Environmental Policy is based on a commitment to sustainable development in product design, working closely with our manufacturers and suppliers to help protect the environment, minimise the waste of renewable and non-renewable resources and reduce energy consumption as part of a continuous improvement programme.

Throughout its activities J & J Stern LLP will endeavour to comply with environmental directives, and minimise any adverse impact on the environment by means of pollution prevention and energy and water conservation. In this way, cost savings, increased operational efficiency and improved quality of products and services will be achieved as well as maintaining a safe environment for the community as a whole and a healthy workplace for J & J Stern LLP’s employees.

In pursuit of this policy, J & J Stern LLP believes:-

1. Environmental protection and waste minimisation is the responsibility of every employee and persons working for and on behalf of the company and should be an integral part of their working life supported by training whenever appropriate.

2. Every endeavour (examples shown below) will be made to ensure that J & J Stern LLP meets its responsibilities by conforming to all applicable environmental legislation.

3. Prime consideration will be given to the prevention of pollution and the reduction of waste and emissions at source whenever production processes or J & J Stern LLP’s facilities are reorganised.

4. Customers and suppliers, as outlined in paragraph 1, will be encouraged to support the same objectives by minimising waste and reducing energy consumption whenever possible, which in turn will reduce their impact on the environment.

5. Management will set continuous improvement targets on a regular basis based on risk assessments reviews and other factors. Reviews will be undertaken to identify progress towards these targets and set further targets for subsequent periods.

6. All person(s) working for or on behalf of J & J Stern LLP should be informed and educated about environmental issues as appropriate.

Examples below show what we are endeavouring to do:

• Sourcing electricity from renewable sources, where practicable and ensuring that electrical appliances are not left in the ‘stand by’ mode.
• Insulation, draught proofing and other energy efficiency measures.
• Using recycled paper or paper from sustainable wood forests where possible and recycling or reusing all paper.
• Using public transport or bicycles wherever possible and minimising car and air travel and at the same time buying cars that are more ‘fuel efficient’ or hybrid.
• Sourcing goods and services locally where practical and possible.
